Would you like to pet a llama?

Yes. Yes, you can! Today I got to pet a llama, bifallo (pronounced like "beef-alo." It's a cross between a bison and a buffalo, not sure about the spelling), a deer with velvet like antlers, and lots of other fun animals.

We visited the Global Wildlife Center located in Folsom, LA. If you have not hit up this family friendly attraction, it is a must see! You take a ride on a covered wagon and get up close and personal with some pretty cool animals. The ride is about 1.5 hours and Cohen did great for about the first hour. He loved watching all the animals, but after that first hour, we had to work harder to entertain him. He was still a good kid, just got a little whiny...nothing we couldn't handle.

Below are a few of my favorite pictures from our adventure.

Mommy and Cohen getting ready for the big wagon ride!

Look at that face...I think he's a little excited!

The animals come right up to the wagon and let you feed them from your cup.

Our tour guide told us that we should hold our cups with TWO hands when feeding the animals to avoid this...

Take a close look at this picture...yep, that's the face Cohen makes when he's asking permission to do something. Look close...he's got his hand in another little boy's food cup! I guess he was checking with us to make sure that was ok.

The llama's actually ate the food right from your hands!

Just pour it right in!

Check out the birds behind Cohen and Nan...according to the tour guide, these birds actually migrated in one year and ate too much that now they can only get about 2 feet off the ground...the fences around the Global Wildlife Center are 8 feet. I don' think they are upset about having to stay here.

Pose for the camera Trix and Awesome!

We had a bunch of fun!! Can't wait to go back...but hopefully next time we will plan this for the fall or winter...it was stinking hot out there today!!

  1. Looks like so much fun! We have been thinking about taking Tris, so I'm glad to know that thier age group would have fun (and also be warned about bringing things to entertain...I can see how an hour and a half can get long!)

I love looking at your pics :)

  2. This looks so fun! I cannot believe I have not taken Stella yet. I suck. Love that handsome boy's haircut, too. When did that happen? I haven't seen him in a few days!
