Would you like to help Cohen give a goat?
During the week when we were learning about the letter "G," Cohen and I read the book Give a Goat by Jan West Schrock and Aileen Darragh. If you have not yet read this book, go get it now and read through it. It's truly an inspiration for our project this week.
In Give a Goat there is a 5th grade class that learns about how other parts of the world are facing extreme poverty. Instead of just feeling sorry for the kids on the other side of the world, they decided they were going to help them. They did some research and found a charitable organization called Heifer International where you can actually give a goat to a family in another country. By doing this, you give that family a chance to get milk or cheese. Instead of giving the family a one time gift, you are actually giving them a chance to change their lives forever.
Cohen and I have decided that we want to support this organization too. For $120, you can send a goat to a needy family. Unfortunately, Cohen and I do not have $120 just yet, but we sent in our share of $10.
I'm writing this blog in hopes that 11 families will consider giving as well. It's only $10, and you can make a big difference to another family. Just think about it, and pray about it. Will you help Cohen give a goat? Go to the Heifer International Website, at heifer.org, once you are there you simply give a $10 share toward a goat.
I would like to encourage you again to go get this book! The St. John Parish Library has a copy, and I'm sure your library does too! Read it to your kids, and help them understand that we are so blessed, and we have a responsibility to pass those blessing on to others.
